German Bundestag passes EU Data Protection Amendment and Implementation Act to implement the EU GDPR.

The German Bundestag, with the consent of the Bundesrat, has passed the Data Protection Amendment and Implementation Act EU (DSAnpUG-EU). This law is intended to adapt German data protection law to the EU Regulation 2016/679 (DS-GVO) and to implement Directive (EU) 2016/680: the provisions repealed by the DS-GVO are replaced and, where the DS-GVO provides for opening clauses, the provisions of the Regulation are concretised and supplemented. The Act was published in the Bundesgesetzblatt Jg. 2017 Teil I Nr. 44 on 5 July 2017 and enters into force on 25 May 2018.
