EU General Data Protection Regulation adopted by the EU Parliament.

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was adopted by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. As an EU regulation, it has direct legal character throughout Europe and thus replaces the Federal Data Protection Act almost entirely. The GDPR was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 4 May 2016 and thus enters into force on 25 May 2016. It is therefore applicable from 25 May 2018, by which date the provisions of the GDPR must have been implemented in the company.
